About the Role We are looking for an experienced Mechanic to join the Olympic Dam Plant and Equipment team.
This role requires effective and efficient mechanical service involving the repair, servicing and maintenance of Ahrens's vehicle fleet, equipment and plant including Heavy Commercial type equipment, light fleet, underground light vehicles and ancillary vehicles, while ensuring compliance to safety, quality and time specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts, including hydraulic and pneumatic schematics Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations Repair, adjust, and overhaul or replace major assemblies or subassemblies such as engine mechanical, electrical, air-conditioning, fuel, emission, power train, brake, steering, and suspension using computerised test equipment, calibration devices, gauges, etc Performing servicing and repairs on company plant, equipment, machinery and vehicles Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers Undertake time in field activities as required and actively monitor housekeeping at the worksite and yard, completing audits and documentation Skills and Experience At least 1 year experience working as a Mechanic servicing, repairing and providing maintenance Certificate IV in automotive Mechanical Diagnosis Certificate lll in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology Current drivers licence Aptitude for mechanical and fabrication concepts and tasks Motivated and willing to undertake any additional training About the Company Ahrens is a fifth-generation, Australian family-owned company, with over 120 years' experience in delivering a wide range of high-quality and cost-effective products and projects across Australia, with footprints overseas.
