MDH Transport is a Bulk Haulage company that has been operating in the civil/mining and agricultural sectors of Western Australia for the past 14 years. We have experienced rapid growth over the past 12 months and are seeking an experienced Operations Manager based from our depot in Karratha to join our team. We currently have multiple projects throughout the Pilbara, between Karratha, Port Hedland, Tom Price and Newman with approximately 30x of our own double and triple roadtrains operating, plus subcontractors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our operators and mechanics on site, and will ensure daily operations are conducted safely and efficiently. They will also be responsible for coordinating maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and optimise performance of the fleet. They will be working closely with the Company's Managing Director and project administrators to ensure operations are completed smoothly and to the highest standard, ensuring continued business growth.
The role will either be FIFO from Perth, or residential in Karratha – this can be reviewed depending on the successful candidate.
Duties Lead and manage employees in alignment with company goals and objectives. Oversee daily operations and streamline processes to enhance efficiency. Lead Project and Operations meetings. Collaborate within the team to ensure smooth operations. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Create a positive and motivating atmosphere within the company. Ensure HSE compliance within the workplace and uphold safety protocols. Establish and maintain effective formal and informal relationships with major clients, relevant key-decision makers and other stakeholders. Act as an internal quality control check for all projects. Coach, assist, mentor and guide individual employees as required. Resolve conflicts promptly, provide constructive feedback and create development plans if necessary for individual employees. Work with the onboarding team to determine position selection criteria, participate and conduct job interviews and reference checks. Conduct probation and performance reviews including providing feedback both positive and constructive to employees. Criteria Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Operations Manager role, preferably in construction or mining. Experience in resource planning and managing multiple projects. Proactive leader with strong decision-making skills. Degree in relevant field preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and MS Project. Understanding for tenders, contracts and operations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to continuous improvement. Must have full Australian Working Rights.
