Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this is a key operational management role providing high-level management and leadership oversight on all aspects of waste operations, waste transfer stations, waste and landfill contracts, cleansing operations, and general waste management services, including environmental aspects.
Key responsibilities include providing direction, guidance, and support to Waste Service staff to ensure all allocated work is completed and complies with relevant legislation. Other requirements include providing operational advice to the General Manager, CEO, Councillors, and other executives on matters relating to Waste Services functions and services to assist them in high-level decision-making and to sustain current knowledge of all business matters pertaining to Waste Services.
You will bring a proven track record of senior leadership in waste or landfill operations or similar environments. While Local Government experience in waste transfer stations and recycling facilities would be highly regarded, experience gained in a similar environment in the private sector would also be considered.
As a collaborator, you bring the ability to build strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders within Council, business, and the community. You are a team player and know how to effectively work cross-functionally along with confident communication skills with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Fundamentally, you'll have demonstrable aptitude to lead your teams with a commitment to safety, a solid understanding of all operational aspects of contract management with large refuse collection operators, and possess relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or significant experience in landfill operations.
