Maternal Fetal Medicine Department Subspecialist

Details of the offer

Join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care for high-risk pregnancies in the ACT and surrounding region. Lead clinical practice, governance, and training, while advancing your expertise. Serve in Canberra's only tertiary care perinatal unit, managing complex cases. THE OPPORTUNITY The CHS Maternal Fetal Medicine Department is seeking a Certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine (CMFM) Subspecialist, Obstetrical and Gynaecological Ultrasound (COGU) Subspecialist, or an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist with a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (O&G) (DDU).
This multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies, offering fetal surveillance and diagnostics. The department works closely with various teams, including MFM consultants, trainees, sonographers, midwives, genetic counsellors, and specialists in Obstetrics, Neonatology, and Paediatric Surgery. The role involves managing complex maternal medical cases, delivering fetal medicine services such as diagnostic ultrasound, invasive procedures, and complex fetal counselling, as well as reporting on standard obstetric ultrasounds.
CHS's Centenary Hospital for Women and Children serves as a tertiary-level facility for the ACT and surrounding regions, managing over 3,700 births annually and acting as a level 6 referral centre for high-risk pregnancies. With a large catchment area, it is the only tertiary perinatal unit between Sydney and Melbourne. The hospital is accredited by RANZCOG for the FRANZCOG Training Program and houses one accredited CMFM training position. The Centre for Newborn Care admits over 650 infants each year.
THE ROLE This position will be embedded in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department, with pro-rata on call duties and contribution to inpatient management when required. There may also be an Obstetric on call component.
THE CANDIDATE The successful applicant must have RANZCOG Fellowship and CMFM Subspecialist qualifications or equivalent. Those with COGU Subspecialist qualification or a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) in O&G may be considered. They must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to interact sensitively in a high-risk obstetric and fetal medicine environment and have a demonstrated commitment to teaching.
The successful candidate may also be considered for an academic appointment at ANU, contingent on their qualifications and experience. This academic position is non-remunerated, subject to performance reviews, and will be held alongside the Canberra Health Services employment. Responsibilities will be divided between clinical and research duties at the hospital and academic matters at ANU.
HOW TO APPLY The closing date for applications is Sunday, 17 November 2024. The reference number to include in your application is H24_4911.
