Role Purpose:
The Mobile Plant Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of mobile plant equipment in our Workshop, ensuring optimal performance, safety, reliability, and availability.
This role includes leading a team of Mechanical Technicians, Auto Electricians, and Boiler Makers, coordinating scheduled maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
The supervisor will work closely with the Plant Superintendent and management teams to minimize downtime and support continuous operational efficiency.
The role requires a proactive approach to equipment health, efficiency, and safety, ensuring that all activities align with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership and Supervision:
Lead and supervise a team of Maintenance Technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
Support breakdown maintenance and repairs, responding quickly to equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Promote and encourage high performance and safety in the workplace.
Handle crucial situations in a calm and effective manner.
Exhibit great communication skills, leading by example and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, following company policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections of mobile plant equipment and maintenance work areas.
Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring team adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs.
Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and downtime incidents.
Work alongside the Maintenance Manager and Plant Superintendent to analyze data to identify recurring issues and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability.
Key Skills and Experience:
Educational Requirements: Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or a related field is required.
Technical Skills: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various types, makes, and models of mobile plant and equipment.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage a team effectively.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions in an agile environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members, other departments, and external vendors.
Further Requirements:
Experience in the Plant & Equipment hire environment.
Rail industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in mobile plant maintenance, with supervisory experience.
Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must hold a current Construction Induction/White Card (or be willing to obtain).
Due to the physical nature of this role, a pre-employment medical assessment is required.
