Position Purpose The Responsibility of a Maritime Security Guard working at a security-regulated port is to protect the integrity and safety of all established maritime zones where approved Maritime Security Plans are enforced. This must be done in compliance with MTOFSA rules and regulations, the approved maritime security plan, and the site traffic management plans.
Key Responsibilities Controlling access into a maritime zone (both persons and vehicles) in accordance with MTOFSA Signing contractors IN/OUT Checking Contractor's induction cards and MSICs Checking emails, administration, communications, and required reporting Provide perimeter security by ensuring there is no unauthorized access to the site or vulnerabilities to the physical and electronic security integrity of the Site perimeter. Confirm that everyone issued a security access card to the site has completed the relevant induction and provided the appropriate approved access level. Surveillance and monitoring of all entry gates, Site buildings and grounds, access control system and the visitor management system process. Respond to alarms generated by access systems, fire systems, building management control systems, CCTV systems and any issues raised by staff or contractors. Monitoring Exit Gate (Unauthorized Entry (vehicle/person), MSIC checks at Turnstiles and exit and entrance gates. Conduct regular patrols and Administration and Building Patrols, and Locking/unlocking (Doors/Gates). Provide daily communications diary, event logs, incident reports, breaches, foot patrol reports, readings, alarms and any checks. Promptly identify and prevent illegal and/or inappropriate behavior, which has the potential to result in damage to property and or persons. Report any such security risks to the client contact and supervisor. To respond to on-site medical, First Aid and other emergencies as required Perform on-site Emergency Siren and Fire Alarm testing Conduct Gatehouse duties when required. Qualifications A Certificate II in Security Operations State current and applicable Security license Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) Must hold a license to work as a security guard, issued or recognized by the relevant State or Territory and that is in force. Occupational First Aid Current Valid driving license - as required Experience Experienced as an MSG or working in a busy Gatehouse role. Previous CCTV monitoring experience will be highly regarded. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role Ability and experience writing detailed incident reports. Experience using access control systems. Experience working in a team environment. Skills Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of the act and understanding of MSG powers under MTOFSA.
