Your Background We're seeking a Marine underwriter with experience in Cargo, Liability and/or Hull who is ready to contribute to our expanding team. You'll be involved in a wide range of underwriting activities, helping to execute strategy, support regional growth plans, and ensure top-tier customer service and product profitability.

We provide a platform for you to enhance your skills and expertise, positioning yourself as a leader in the Australian Commercial Marine market.You'll have the opportunity to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the region and collaborate with counterparts in the UK market.You'll be able to further enhance your experience and receive on-the-job training, learning from some of the best technical experts in the industry.We offer a fun and exciting culture that supports innovation and growth; you'll be surrounded by like-minded individuals who are focused on getting the job done whilst having fun along the way!What you'll bring to the role Contribute to and execute the underwriting strategy for all products, aligning with our established risk appetite.Drive financial performance by meeting key KPIs, balancing revenue growth with underwriting profitability.Ensure SALT's service levels are consistently delivered across all authorized products.Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance with internal and external guidelines.Lead quality-first initiatives, conducting peer reviews to identify opportunities for underwriting and product enhancements.Operate within your underwriting authority to make informed decisions.Build and maintain strong relationships with broking partners.Foster strong connections with both internal and external stakeholders.Take ownership of your personal technical development and skills growth.What you need to have A deep understanding of the Marine insurance market with at least 10 years of experience in Marine Cargo or Marine Liability. Candidates with a broking background will also be considered.Proven experience working collaboratively in teams and a track record of delivering strong results.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.Strong organizational skills to ensure compliance with company processes and procedures.Exceptional influencing, negotiating, and relationship-building abilities.A customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.High personal drive and a results-oriented approach to achieving success.What makes you stand out: Over 10 years of experience in Commercial Marine, ideally with a strong underwriting background.We're open to candidates with a blend of both underwriting and broking experience.Established relationships and deep experience within the Marine sector, with expertise in Australia and New Zealand being a valuable asset.If the above sounds of interest, we'd love to hear from you!
