About the branch The Litigation and Dispute Resolution (L&DR) Branch is a team of approximately 60 legal practitioners and 35 legal support staff, including paralegals that provide specialist legal services to numerous government clients and departments. The Branch handles a diverse range of litigation, including civil claims, tortious claims, personal injury claims, and more.
About the role We are seeking multiple senior and experienced lawyers to join the VGSO as Managing Principal Solicitors in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Branch. Reporting to Lead Counsel, the successful candidate(s) will lead and supervise a team of lawyers and paralegals while providing high-level legal advice across Government.
The role requires efficient management of complex and sensitive litigation, focusing on State care, personal injury, and negligence claims. Ideal applicants will demonstrate strong people leadership capabilities and be eager to mentor and develop a team of lawyers.
Collaboration is fundamental to success in this role, and you must be willing to share your knowledge and contribute to initiatives that foster a positive working environment. Applicants should have a strong understanding of government structure and the political and legal sensitivities of operating within the public sector.
Please note: Previous experience handling broad personal injury and negligence matters is essential.
