Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is delivering a massive investment in the state's roads. We're delivering major new road projects across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria while improving the roads people rely on every day.
The West Gate Tunnel Project will give Melbourne a second freeway link between the west and the city, providing a much-needed alternative to the West Gate Bridge and a vital second river crossing.
The Managing Principal Lawyer will provide expert legal advice by leading, managing and coordinating legal aspects of Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) projects or other matters. The role will provide expert legal and commercial guidance whilst engaging with and influencing the senior decision makers.
Join us in building better connections for Victoria by: Provide high quality and pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of legal areas, including matters relating to project development, procurement, delivery, contracting, legislation, interfaces, probity, land planning and environment, compliance and regulatory issues. Develop and draft required legal documentation, prepare briefs and ad hoc legal advice to MRPV and government decision makers. Manage all day-to-day legal aspects for the MRPV projects or other matters allocated to the Managing Principal Lawyer. Lead, mentor and guide employees within the legal team and undertake people management responsibilities as required. Manage and engage with external legal and probity advisors and collaborate with other teams and external advisors as required, to ensure issues are considered efficiently and a consistent and agreed approach is taken to support MRPV and project expectations. The Managing Principal Lawyer will interface with MRPV client teams, external advisors and MRPV's broader Commercial and Legal team to ensure a consistent and agreed approach is taken on legal positions which support the Project's objectives.
The position will be responsible for managing the legal needs for particular MRPV matters or teams, as well as contributing to the strategic and cross-business initiatives.
This opportunity is an 8-month fixed-term position.
