We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Legal Counsel - Licensing to join our dynamic team at Coles in Melbourne. In this pivotal role, you will be managing a team of five professionals and will be responsible for applying for new licenses, renewing existing licenses for our retail stores, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
What you will be doing:Manage and lead a team of five legal professionals.Oversee the application process for new licenses and the renewal of existing licenses for our retail stores.Ensure compliance with local regulations and legal requirements.Maintain and update knowledge of relevant legislation changes and industry standards.Work closely with government and industry bodies to secure necessary licenses and regulatory approvals.Collaborate with law firms on multi-year processes and projects.Develop and maintain a strong professional network within the industry.Participate in relevant forums and industry groups to stay ahead of regulatory changes.About you:Proven experience in managing liquor licenses and regulatory compliance.Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.Extensive experience in working with government and industry bodies.Proficient in handling multi-year legal processes and collaborating with law firms.In-depth knowledge of local legislation and regulatory frameworks.Excellent communication and networking skills.Active participation in industry forums and groups regarding regulatory changes.Experience in a specialist law firm or a similar in-house role, with a focus on liquor licensing.What's in it for you?Flexible working options: We know that work is only one part of your life, so we actively encourage a positive work-life balance and provide hybrid working options to help you achieve it.Office perks: Take advantage of our gym facility and fitness classes, free parking, BBQ area, mini-Coles supermarket, fooderie hub where you can sample new products before they hit the shelves, school holiday program and so much more when you come in.Discounts: Eligible team members receive 5% discount all year round on your Supermarket and Liquor online and in-store purchases.
