What's this role about? The Managing Director / General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of the company in Australia. This role involves managing a diverse team, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving growth through the development and implementation of innovative energy solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the energy sector, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the Australian energy market.
What will I be doing?Deliver Australian P&L figures that align with the company's forecasts and established board objectives.Achieve sales metrics that include (but are not limited to):Establishing a well-defined and significant customer pipeline by the end of month 3.Conducting customer meetings and engagements as planned with the Managing Director.Tracking pipeline progress.Securing contract sales and corresponding MWs for ancillary services.Meeting annual revenue and margin targets as agreed with the CCO, in alignment with company forecasts and board objectives.Represent GridBeyond at various internal and external events, including webinars, seminars, industry gatherings, and other marketing initiatives.Recruit and successfully onboard appropriate staff in collaboration with the CCO as needed.Ensure the ongoing appropriateness of the office and its location for GridBeyond Australia, in agreement with the CCO.Manage, and share management responsibilities for, key staff in the Australian office with ultimate accountability resting with the General Manager.Provide support for product development feedback and contribute to market, competitor monitoring, and opportunity identification.What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?A bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline (a Master's degree is preferred).Over 10 years of experience in the Australian energy sector, and/or experience selling to major industrial companies in the Steel, Glass, Cement, Chemicals, and Paper & Pulp industries, including experience with CHP/s and Battery storage.Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a commercial team.Demonstrated experience in commercial sales within wholesale energy markets and ancillary services.A robust network of contacts within the large industrial sectors of the Australian market.Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to build interpersonal relationships.Proven leadership and team-building capabilities.Exceptional strategic planning and organisational skills.Financial expertise, including budgeting and financial management experience.Strong skills in negotiation and relationship management.What behaviors are rewarded at GridBeyond?Customer Obsession - We keep our customers at the forefront of every decision we make.Relentless - We push beyond boundaries, overcome obstacles.
