What we offer Salary packaging options up to $18,450 per annum tax freeRemote allowance of $3,300 per annum (if applicable)Annual airfare allowance6 weeks annual leave3 weeks personal leaveAbout the role As the Managing Criminal Solicitor at NAAJA, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of dedicated legal professionals in providing high-quality criminal defence services to the Aboriginal communities in the Darwin region.
What you'll be doing Manage a caseload of complex criminal matters, providing strategic legal advice and representation to clientsLead and mentor a team of criminal solicitors, ensuring they deliver exceptional legal services to clientsDevelop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the court system, police and other legal organisationsContribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the agency's criminal defence servicesRepresent the agency at relevant meetings, conferences and community eventsStay up to date with changes in criminal law and policy, and ensure the team is equipped to handle evolving legal landscapeWhat we're looking for Admitted as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory, with a minimum of 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal lawDemonstrated expertise in managing a caseload of complex criminal matters, including experience in criminal trials and appealsStrong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team of legal professionalsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholdersCommitment to providing high-quality legal services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communitiesDemonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peopleRequirements Ability to obtain a satisfactory "Working with Children Clearance" (Ochre Card) upon commencementSatisfactory criminal history check and no history of disqualification from employment by a legal practiceCurrent Drivers licence, preferably with 4WD experienceAbility and willingness to travel remoteApply now to join our dedicated team and make a positive impact!
