Managing Consultant – Contaminated Land – Newcastle East Our Team
Our contaminated sites team (LPMR service line) continues to be the largest global service area in a business with a history of annual double-digit growth. Safety and environmental consulting are our core business.
Our team includes a stable, supportive senior leadership team of experienced and reputable contaminated land practitioners. We have access to a growing pipeline of large, technically challenging, diverse and interesting site investigation and remediation projects for a wide range of clients and industry sectors both locally, interstate and internationally.
Who are we looking for?
ERM is seeking a motivated managing senior environmental consultant to join the team in our Newcastle East office to support our Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation Team (Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation services).
The ideal candidate will have between 5-8 years' experience in contaminated site management consulting experience, with strong field work and project management skills acquired across a range of site uses and contaminant types. You will be part of a dynamic technical team responsible for consulting on contaminated sites largely within NSW on a range of investigation and remediation projects.
If you have the following experience, we would love to hear from you:
Previous consulting experience (between 5-8 years) in contaminated land industry; Relevant tertiary qualification (geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental engineering, soil science or other related science subject degree); High appreciation and understanding of health & safety requirements on complex work sites, including conducting intrusive drilling and excavation works; Leadership and co-ordination of field programs, including mentoring of junior colleagues; Proven report writing skills including engagement in the Certified Environmental Practitioner Scheme or professional industry bodies; Proven experience in supervising and managing sub-contractors on site; Competency in preliminary and detailed site investigation and sampling techniques involving data collection (soil, water, soil vapour, etc.) is required and a working knowledge of the ASC NEPM; Project management experience, i.e. proposal and project budget development, client and external stakeholder engagement, allocation and management of tasks to meet agreed timelines; Willingness to travel; Authorised to work full-time in Australia; and Full Drivers Licence issued by an Australian state or territory. Role responsibilities:
Supervise fieldwork programs, including subcontractors and ERM personnel on site; Undertaking environmental assessments and remediation works involving the collection of field data (soil, soil gas/vapour, groundwater); Preparation of or providing inputs into complex technical reports in accordance with relevant guidelines and legislation; Electronic data management and production of borelogs and summary tables; Assist with the preparation of client proposals; and Support project managers through planning and delivering field programs and/or budget/task management.
