It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
NPY Women's Council follows strong values and high principles that guide our work. We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma training, 4WD training, first aid training and more, as well as free and confidential counselling services to support you.
ABOUT THE TEAM The NPY Women's Council's Youth Service works with children and young people (aged 10-25) and their families living in the NPY region. The Youth Service model is based on four key components: case management, leadership and education, youth diversion and recreation, and advocacy and collaboration.
The main activities of the NPYWC Youth Program are to:
Work with young people and their communities to provide enjoyable, educational recreation activities.Provide case management support to young people and their families using a family orientated client centred framework.Advocate for better resourcing and support where there are gaps in services and programs for young people, advocate for social change.Develop specialised projects to meet the needs of young people across the NPY region.ABOUT THE ROLE This is a unique opportunity to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development, and to lead a passionate team that makes a real difference to the lives of young people in Central Australia.
The Manager role is responsible for the overall operation of the Youth program, including the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of activities. The Manager also provides mentoring, support, supervision and development to staff as well as nurturing a high performing, professional, productive and harmonious team. The Youth Services Manager is also part of the NPYWC Leadership team and participates in senior management meetings and relevant activities.
ABOUT YOU You are passionate about working with and for children and young people, and you have a deep knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect youth in Central Australia. You will also have extensive experience managing and leading teams, as well as experience at a senior level in the delivery of human services, preferably in Indigenous youth programs.
