Role Overview:Reporting to the Chief Engineer and Major Projects, the Manager leads the Transport and Civil Development Department which includes:
Traffic and transport
Parking infrastructure
Civil development
Asset protection
Drainage
Infrastructure engineering/planning
This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining strategic management strategies and methodologies, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and industry best practices.
The Manager will foster a high-functioning department, striving for excellence through collaboration and partnerships both internally and externally. This leadership position embodies professionalism and integrity, promoting a customer-centric culture across departments.
Key Responsibilities:Additionally, the Manager will:
Provide specialist advice to senior management and council
Contribute to leadership and corporate project teams
Ensure that health and safety standards meet corporate requirements
Coordinate major project efforts with other departments
Manage staffing levels and work allocation
Identify areas for service improvement
Qualifications:To be considered for this role, you will have:
A proven engineering background or senior management experience in transport and civil engineering development
Ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and advocate effectively
Strong change management expertise to foster a culture of innovation and cohesion
Proven skills in managing competing demands efficiently
A passion for community service and development
Experience in engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and diverse opinions
Experience in developing strategic directions and translating them into actionable plans
Skills in managing contracts and project delivery
Experience in coordinating service requirements for a large public sector organization and leading multiple teams
Proven skills in managing change processes, championing continuous improvement, and exhibiting conceptual thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
