About the RoleReporting to the Head of Global Tax Reporting and Governance, you will be leading the delivery of tax internal and external reporting and ensure the operational effectiveness of BHP's tax governance and risk management framework.
This is a full-time position with two direct reports, based out of the BHP Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane Offices, and flexible work options will be available.
Core Accountabilities include: Provision of strategic insights on global tax balances, including monthly reviews of global effective tax rate, the tax balance sheet, and tax cash flows at the consolidated Group level, and the investigation of the root causes of significant variances.Lead the delivery of the global tax numbers and associated disclosures in the Group financial statements, including being a key line of defence on tax reporting matters and compliance with all relevant accounting standards and other regulatory requirements.Management and effective communication with the Regional tax teams on all of their deliverables in relation to half year and full year reporting requirements including the Results Announcement and Annual Report.Engagement with internal stakeholders (e.g. Regional Tax teams, Accounting and Reporting, Investor Relations, Internal Audit) and external auditors on the deliverables.Provide input into the delivery of the Economic Contribution Report including the country-by-country and project-by-project payments data, and compliance with all relevant tax transparency regulations and best practice requirements.Ensuring the operational effectiveness of BHP's tax governance and risk management framework, including ongoing monitoring of material risks and testing of critical controls, managing the reporting and provision of insights to key stakeholders in relation to tax risks and engagement with Group Risk and Internal Audit.Develop and maintain global standards for internal tax reporting, budgeting and benchmarking.Lead a culture of standardisation, continuous improvement, collaboration and innovative thinking within the Tax Reporting team and more broadly across Group Tax.About YouYou are a self-starter with a strong track record of consistently driving results in a timely and efficient manner. With your strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, you have demonstrated the ability to deal with ambiguity, "join the dots", cut through complex matters to identify the critical issues and communicate them clearly. You are a quick learner who demonstrates flexibility whilst being open to change. You will have strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills.
Finance/Tax/Accounting qualification with extensive knowledge of accounting standards, a detailed understanding of IAS 12 and tax effect accounting.Comprehensive practical experience with tax reporting and governance processes in a large multinational business.Significant experience leading process development, implementation and improvement activities.Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to synthesise diverse views from technical experts.Experience managing a team.SAP platform experience preferred.Applications close on Tuesday, December 17, at 11:59 pm (AEST) About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
