Have a passion for Right to Information and Privacy and promoting transparency in government? Follow your passion to the central agency for the Queensland Government for a once in a career opportunity as the head of our Right to Information and Privacy team.
As Manager, you will lead and support the team in making and supervising the making of defensible, reviewable, decisions for applications to the department, the Office of the Premier and portfolio bodies under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.

How you'll contribute In this varied and intellectually stimulating role, you'll make your mark by:
Successfully managing Right to Information and Information Privacy applications for the department, the Office of the Premier and portfolio bodies.Providing expert advice on a range of RTI and IP obligations, including handling personal information and matters arising from the commencement of the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (IPOLA).Effectively managing privacy complaints made under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and reported breaches of the IP Act to achieve best outcomes for internal and external clients.Driving programs to prepare the department for the implementation and ongoing impact of the changes introduced by IPOLA.What you'll bring to the role
We are looking for an experienced RTI and Privacy leader who can expertly navigate the sensitivities and complexities associated with managing RTI and IP applications for a central agency. You will use your exceptional judgement and communication skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with clients, departmental staff, stakeholders and members of the public.
In this role, you'll draw on your prior experience as both a team leader and an RTI and IP decision-maker to lead, develop and coach a team of RTI and IP practitioners to:
make and supervise the making of defensible, reviewable, decisions under the RTI and IP Actsensure capacity and capability in the department to deliver expert advice and sound RTI and IP decision making.A tertiary qualification in law, business or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
