About the roleThis newly created position of Manager – Return to Work and Injury Rehabilitation is pivotal to the success of V/Line's People, Risk, Safety & Sustainability function.
Leading the development and implementation of comprehensive injury management programs, you will provide expert guidance on return-to-work planning and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will collaborate to achieve positive outcomes for our employees.
You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining policies and templates that support injury prevention.
This includes mapping and reviewing existing procedures, identifying gaps, and developing new processes.
Monitoring and reporting on workplace injury trends will be a crucial part of your role, as your insights will inform strategic decision-making.
Key accountabilities include:Leading the development and implementation of injury management programs.Providing expert advice on return-to-work planning and compliance.Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for employees.Developing and maintaining policies and templates that support injury prevention.Monitoring and reporting on trends in workplace injuries to inform strategic decision-making.Providing effective case management, including developing return-to-work plans, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.About youYou are an experienced industry professional and a team player with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ideally, you meet most or all the following key selection criteria:
Development & Implementation of Injury Management Programs: Demonstrated professional experience leading the development and implementation of injury management and return to work programs.Legislative Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Victorian and NSW state legislation related to occupational health and safety, workers' compensation, and return-to-work processes.Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.Analytical and Reporting Skills: Strong analytical skills to monitor and report on workplace injury trends.
Ability to use insights to inform strategic decision-making.Resilience and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated resilience and the ability to navigate complex situations.
Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and achieve positive outcomes.Alignment with V/Line core values: Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.While tertiary qualifications are not required, credentials in a discipline relating to injury prevention and management, such as Health Science, Rehabilitation Studies, or similar, would be highly regarded.
In this role you will manage and assist in the medical assessment process for Rail Safety Workers.
Familiarity with the rail industry would be advantageous.
