The Royal Australian Mint plays an important role in enhancing the understanding of the history of Australian commerce and trade, including the transition into a system of decimal currency, provoking discussion about the role of the Mint and coins into the future.On average, 1,000 people visit the Royal Australian Mint per day to discover the role of coins in society, modern manufacturing practices and how the Mint uses coins to narrate Australian stories shared through generations.Reporting to the Director, Museum, Education and Visitor Services, the Manager Public Engagement leads a team who enjoy designing, curating and educating.
They oversee front of house operations, manage the National Coin Collection, develop public programs and nurture relationships with valued stakeholders.The Manager Public Engagement will be joining the Mint at an exciting time.
The Mint has completed a gallery and retail upgrade program to enhance the visitor experience.
This provides the opportunity to engage visitors in new and innovative ways, and to explore new ways to use the National Coin Collection.The duties of this position include:Providing support and advice to the Director, Museum, Education and Visitors Services on a range of issues pertaining to public engagement.Leading and developing initiatives to promote Australia's coin history and the Mint as a must-see destination and experience.Managing a small team, including driving the effective and efficient operations of the team, and creating an environment of success and innovation.Applying continuous improvement principles to enhance the tourism product offered by the Mint.Overseeing the development of exhibitions which incorporate key principles, modern museum standards and consideration of accessibility, diversity and inclusivity requirements.Consulting and networking with industry peers to discuss projects and potential collaborations.Leading the improvement of the storage of the National Coin Collection, working collaboratively with relevant curators to ensure policies and storage align with requirements.Security clearanceThis position requires a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
