Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Manager Public Affairs will play an important role in elevating CEA's profile, reputation and brand in the external domain as we transition into a Government Business Entity.
The newly established position is responsible for the establishment, management and maintenance of media operations, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders.
The role will also support management of the website, external events, speechwriting and broader strategic communication and parliamentary reporting requirements.The role is responsible for: The development and execution of external communication plansThe development of written media materials including press releases, key messages, talking points, website news articles, long form documents (such as speeches, forwards, corporate publications etc) and other collateral as requiredEstablishing and managing relationships with key external stakeholders including ministerial offices, government agencies, media and industry partnersEstablishing and managing media operations, including media monitoring capability and policies, reporting to the Executive and first point of contact for members of the mediaPlanning and delivery of media eventsThe facilitation of media trainingEstablishing and managing crisis communication capabilityInternal and external reporting as requiredOther duties which are outlined in the position description upon requestDemonstrated depth of experience in long form writing and editorial skillsA genuine passion for written communication with ability to tailor to intended audiencesAbility to work autonomously with limited directionAbility to undertake extensive research of a variety of topics, consolidating evidence into supporting argumentsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalVery high attention to detailTertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable, or demonstrated equivalent experienceAn understanding of defence industry, military environment or similar would be advantageousAwareness of parliamentary process (including question time etc.
)EligibilityTo be eligible for this position you must be:
