The role As the Manager Projects, Legislation, and Policy you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for providing high-level advice to the Department, and consulting with key stakeholders on the development of resource tenure policy and legislation.
Your work will at times take you to regional parts of the State, as well as to the seat of power in Parliament.
You will be leading policy and legislative projects.
Your attention to detail and project management skills will ensure that projects are delivered as planned.
While the role is full time and office based, you may at times be driving to the regions to engage with the mining industry and other stakeholders.
At other times you might be present in Parliament to contribute to the development and creation of legislation necessary for the continued success and economic prosperity of Western Australia and its people through the development of our resources.
You will be responsible for managing the preparation of ministerial responses, briefings, cabinet submissions, reports, policy statements, discussion papers and other correspondence.
Additionally, you will liaise with the State Solicitor's Office and the Parliamentary Counsel's Office and other external stakeholders on effective policy and legislation development.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the Department for the next 12 months from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

How to apply We ask for you to provide a detailed resume outlining your key achievements, work history, education and professional development and covering letter of no more than two (2) pages, addressing the following points: Extensive experience in project management and policy development, analysis, interpretation and implementation, preferably in the resource sector.
Extensive experience in providing high-level policy and legislative advice and communicating government policy position to stakeholders.
Extensive knowledge of legislation preferably relevant to mining and petroleum industry, and the ability to manage legislative change arising from policy decisions.
