Manager or Senior Manager – Private Clients TaxOur client is an award-winning specialist Private Clients tax firm. Since inception less than a decade ago, they have grown from start-up to top 90 Accounting firms in Australia with a reputation for technical excellence and a fantastic culture.
Reporting to the Partners of the firm, they offer access to top-tier clients and work and excellent salary and benefits, whilst maintaining a small-firm feel.
Key Responsibilities:Tax compliance, financial statements and advisory services for trusts, companies, partnerships, and individuals.Providing family advisory services such as succession and estate planning.Providing advice on tax issues such as restructures, CGT, Division 7A and trust losses for high-net-worth individuals, family businesses and their owners.Providing tax advisory services to large private owned companies, dealing with complex tax matters including exposure to international tax issues.Assist in effectively managing a client portfolio and maintaining and developing strong client relationships.Mentoring junior team members, dedicating time to their professional development.Areas of Challenge and Involvement:Advising the Partners of any key technical issues across the services being provided and developing solutions for the clients. Being aware of risk and taking responsibility for resolving it.Build strong client relationships, drive client service excellence and take responsibility for all aspects of the client account.Autonomously manage a ledger of clients and engagements, ensuring delivery and deadlines (client and statutory) are met.Drive quality assurance and risk management for the team's key clients.Assisting our clients to grow their businesses by applying your technical knowledge and skills.Maintaining and growing our existing client base. Ensuring retention of clients on your ledger and identification of new business development opportunities. Be instrumental in driving these new business development opportunities and convert them into wins.Be the primary point of contact for certain clients and being able to manage several different engagements at once, ensuring a high level of time management and clear communication.Taking responsibility for billing and controlling of Work in Progress, adhering to budget and deadline constraints.Overseeing junior people in the team and being actively involved in training them through structured coaching and on the job training.Take responsibility for some of the marketing initiatives of the team (e.g. developing value-add ideas, presentations, business development research, etc).Proven display of our workplace core values – care, empathy, communication, urgency and ownership.Key Skills & Attributes of the Successful Candidate:Must show a high level of demonstrated relevant tax technical ability and experience in the private business / family group market. Ideally 4-9 years' experience (depending on whether you are Manager or Senior Manager level) working in the Private Clients area.Must show a high level of demonstrated commercial ability and understanding of clients you are responsible for. That is, you must be able to understand what the business does, how it operates, its structure and its business fundamentals.Demonstrate strong communication skills (via written or presentation format). Be able to coherently translate complicated technical issues to clients in a simple format.Technical positions (whether tax or accounting) must be well-researched, thought-out, supported and be in a position for partner sign-off.Take ownership for the completed delivery and quality of all client work. That is, the deliverable must be to a final / complete product and ready for high level Partner review.Strong experience in managing and developing more junior staff.This is a fantastic firm who offer genuine commitment to the development and progression of their staff and provide flexibility and excellent work.
