We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our team as Manager, Operations based in our Brisbane office. As the Manager, Operations you will provide daily operational support to the General Manager and the broader office. Leveraging your expertise in team management, you will lead, coordinate and inspire a high performing team of rail safety officers and plan and oversee the delivery of the Brisbane Office regulatory work program.
Your key responsibilities include:
Manage a team of high performing Regulatory Officers, providing advice and guidance on activity planning, direction and delivery.Plan, maintain and deliver a complex regulatory work program which aims to monitor and enforce compliance to the Rail Safety National Law.Support the General Manager in all office operations.Coordinate with other ONRSR Manager, Operations to ensure the effective delivery of the wider ONRSR work program.Provide recommendations to the General Manager, on the day-to-day management of office operations and its continuous improvement.Assist the General Manager with the development of management strategies and/or procedures to meet national objectives, as well as oversee and coordinate the delivery of these strategies and/or procedures.Liaise and establish effective relationships with accredited operators to ensure the successful delivery of regulatory activities and timely response to regulatory actions.Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all ONRSR teams to assist overall business improvement across ONRSR.Other duties as required.About you – your impact and contribution This role is ideal for a highly organised individual with a solid understanding of regulations, particularly in rail safety, and proven experience in team and work program management.

Success in this role will also require a keen interest and ability to plan and manage a complex work program that includes over 200 regulatory activities undertaken across Queensland and Australia.
To be successful in the position you should have:
Proven experience in leadership and mentoring within a team environment.Proven ability to plan and oversee the delivery of complex work programs.Possess self-motivation and adaptability.Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to consult, liaise, and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including rail transport operators, to foster cooperation and achieve outcomes.Management experience, ideally within the rail industry or a regulatory environment.A capacity to make sound decisions and adopt adaptable work practices to meet changing requirements.Working knowledge of the rail industry and/or regulation is preferable.Sound understanding of the principles of integrated safety management systems, risk management, and preferably, their application to railway operations and the Rail Safety National Law.This role involves working in and around railway environments, so you should be open to fieldwork, which may include working outside regular hours, and occasional interstate and remote travel. All rail safety officers must complete a Category 3 rail safety worker health assessment.
