About the Company:Covalent Lithium is a joint venture between Wesfarmers and SQM, combining Wesfarmers' expertise in the Australian chemicals industry with SQM's global leadership in the lithium market. Our vision is to enable cleaner energy on a large scale. Our fully integrated Mount Holland Lithium Project in Western Australia includes the Mount Holland mine and concentrator, and the Kwinana lithium hydroxide refinery. With commissioning underway and first production expected by mid-2025, we are set to become a critical supplier of battery-grade lithium hydroxide, supporting Australia's role in the global energy transition.
The Role:As Manager of Health and Safety, you will provide strategic leadership to ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety practices across all Covalent sites. You will drive a proactive safety culture while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of health and safety programs, policies, and management systems.Coach and support leaders and teams in fulfilling their health and safety responsibilities.Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.Drive a culture of continuous improvement through health and safety training and engagement programs.Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.Develop and oversee site-specific health surveillance, fit-for-work programs, and emergency response plans.Support contractor prequalification assessments and health and safety compliance reviews.Manage health and safety budgets and expenditure protocols.The Successful Candidate:You are a proactive and inspiring safety leader with a passion for creating safe and healthy work environments. You have exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders at all levels. You thrive in complex, multi-site environments and excel at managing large-scale projects.
Qualifications & Experience: Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or related discipline.Minimum 10 years' experience in a health and safety leadership role, including site leadership in mining and large construction projects.Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry best practices.Certifications in Incident Investigation, Workers' Compensation, Drug & Alcohol Testing, and First Aid (or equivalent).Valid C Class Manual Driver's Licence.Desirable: Mental Health First AidCertified Lead AuditorWorking at HeightsConfined Space Entry certifications.For specific enquiries, please contact Amy Fitton on noting that Derwent's office will be closed for the holiday period from 20 December 2024, reopening 6 January 2025.
