This role will see you leading the Network Development and Planning team, responsible for driving the future planning of AusNet's transmission network. You will provide leadership, guidance and strategic direction to strengthen our network by investing efficiently to create a resilient and safe network for our customers' future energy needs.
With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of the Transmission - Network Development & Planning team, reporting to the GM, Network Management (Transmission). This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Identify and advocate for best practice planning outcomes to provide Victorians with a socially and environmentally responsible transmission network.
Lead the development of Transmission network asset renewal planning (major station re-builds) and joint planning with AEMO.
Develop network investment proposals and Regulatory Investment Tests (RITs), including RIT-Ts for transmission renewal projects.
Develop and publish annual planning reports, including Asset Renewal Plan (Transmission).
Provide advice on network capacity and capability to internal stakeholders as well as other industry groups as required.
Effectively communicate findings from power systems and market modelling activities in clear and concise presentations and reports.
Develop and maintain power system modelling capability (PSSE) and Market Modelling capability (PLEXOS) to support network planning activities.
Plan for a new energy future full of renewables and without coal, taking into account macro trends in the energy sector and the impacts of climate change.
Strategic advice to regulatory policy and advocacy groups (including participation/leadership in industry forums, working groups etc).
Lead and coach a high performing team to ensure a safe, reliable, affordable and sustainable regulated network today and into the future.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: Extensive experience as an Engineer within the electricity supply industry.
Experience in network planning, operations and knowledge of National Electricity Rules.
Knowledge of economic assessment of constraints and risks.
Strategic thinking – ability to connect with organisational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
A collaborative leader - gathering input and buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
Expert at critical thinking and the ability to problem solve and find new and unique solutions.
Bachelor of Engineering in an appropriate field.
