We're focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research.About the role:The Manager, North East leads a team within the Performance and Commissioning branch to support the delivery of tertiary mental health services in the North East region of Victoria.The Manager will work closely with area mental health services to ensure people can access timely, high quality and safe mental health treatment in the region, including supporting the implementation of transformational reforms in line with the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.You will be required to operate in a dynamic environment working collaboratively across teams to support the commissioning of new mental health services and drive system performance and improvements.You will be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible and able to rapidly prioritise work tasks.You will work closely with team members and other stakeholders to develop options and creative, implementable solutions to issues and challenges arising in area mental health services.A commitment to positive and collaborative workplace cultures is an important aspect of the role.How you'll make a difference:Commissioning and performance management of acute mental health services in the Northeast region to meet the needs of consumers in the region and support the implementation of Royal Commission reforms.Lead the development and implementation of priority strategies to address system performance issues of acute mental health services at a statewide level.Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:Leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contributing to organisational goals and outcomes.Modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values.Where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility.Extensive experience coaching, developing and managing a team.Extensive experience in change management and providing positive and constructive leadership during and following change management periods.Proven ability to operate in accordance with delegated authority, consistent with departmental and government policies.Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.Identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives and provide high quality business intelligence and sound recommendations based on comprehensive research and investigations.Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:A tertiary qualification in fields related to public policy, health administration or business management is desirable.A strong understanding of the Victorian health system, and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is required.Experience in health service performance and commissioning is desirable.Ability to identify and respond to risks in relation to financial and operational sustainability.Ability to establish and maintain systems to monitor and report on operational performance and quality and consumer safety.What we offer:The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.How to apply:Applications should include a resume and a cover letter.
