About the Victorian School Building AuthorityThe Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s. The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the DivisionAsset Management Division is responsible for setting VSBA's strategic asset direction, developing and implementing programs that address accessibility, inclusion and accommodation initiatives, and building school capability and capacity to manage assets.
The Maintenance Delivery Branch oversees maintenance projects, encompassing planned maintenance, as well as the upkeep of hydraulic fire safety systems and shelter-in-place facilities and other programs. Additionally, it ensures that secondary school campuses are equipped with suitable facilities to accommodate mental health practitioners, aligning with the government's commitment for this program.
The Programs Branch delivers a range of responsive and programmed works projects, including minor capital works, Accessible Buildings Program, Inclusive School Fund and the Emergency Maintenance Program. Additionally, the PB delivers the relocatable building programs, consisting of more than 200 constructed and installed relocatable buildings across the State to support enrolment growth and school redevelopment programs.
About the RoleWe are seeking to hire a Manager (VPS6) in the Commercial and Programs Unit. The Commercial and Programs Unit provides multiple support activities to the Maintenance Delivery and Programs Branch delivery programs, including:
Project tracking and reportingDatabase managementStrategic commercial operations and procurementProject delivery protocolsGeneralist administrative functionThe role will co-lead and facilitate the Commercial and Programs Unit's fulfilment of the responsibilities, and its commitment to:
Meaningful and collaborative engagement with key internal and external stakeholdersDevelopment of timely and detailed reporting on complex projects and programsContinual improvement of work processes and cultureCompliance with ministerial directionsImplementation of assurance program outcomes and approved recommendationsVSBA's operational and strategic goalsKey Responsibilities: Model and uphold department valuesDevelop and deliver a high performing, organised, and strategically focused teamLead effective and timely delivery of projects in alignment with organisational strategies and prioritiesLead development and implementation of business process and data analytics improvementsLead data analytics, reporting, and insights, including communication to leadership groupsIdentify actionable opportunities for value creation and process improvementLead responses to ad hoc data requests, working with systems and stakeholders to extract, source and collate dataThe role is a fixed-term opportunity until the 30/6/2026.
