We have an exciting, fixed term temporary flexible full-time opportunity for you to join our System Policy Branch based in Brisbane CBD! Lead a range of strategic policy activities and projects that have a direct impact on protecting the health of Queenslanders. This opportunity will allow you to provide timely and well-researched strategic policy advice to senior management in Queensland Health and to the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services in relation to a diverse range of important projects.
The Manager, Strategic Policy, leads a team responsible for identifying and analysing critical and emergent health-related policy issues and developing strategic state-wide policies in priority areas to enable Queensland Health to efficiently and effectively discharge its system manager functions. Key projects currently being developed and delivered by the Unit include policy advice on LGBTQIA+ health, developing submissions and policy papers to internal and external audiences, and future-focussed health policy.
The successful person The successful applicant will be a strong leader with experience managing teams and leading policy projects. You will be a strong negotiator who has a proven track record in engaging with a broad range of stakeholders across a range of sectors. You will have a demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality written materials, such as briefs and correspondence, for a range of audiences.
You will have demonstrated:
Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills based on experience building and leading high-functioning teams.Strategic, conceptual, critical thinking, and analytical capability relevant to a range of social and health priority areas and a proven track record in identifying, negotiating, influencing, and implementing solutions to complex problems.Project management skills, including the capability to develop, implement, analyse, and evaluate policy and program-related projects.Written and oral communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, including the ability to prepare and present major and complex policy-related reports, and to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment, and with key community and individual stakeholders.About us The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland.
