Community Corrections is responsible for supervising adult offenders in the community.
Community Corrections is divided into seven regions each with a number of district offices and reporting centres.
Community Corrections staff aim to protect the community and reduce re-offending by supervising offenders in the community in which they live and encourage offenders to adopt more pro-social attitudes and behaviours.
The purpose of this position is to lead improvements in operational service delivery activities and strategic directions for Community Corrections.
The position ensures timely and effective identification and practical resolution of operational practice issues, and provides high-level expert advice to the Assistant Commissioner, Community Corrections, Community Corrections staff and other QCS divisional units regarding operational practice enhancements.
This position also manages activities and initiatives in relation to the ongoing improvement and effectiveness of Community Corrections.
In this role you will: Provide advice, support and practice guidance to staff involved in offender management activities, in line with established frameworks for offender management.Monitor the quality of offender management and operational practice activities, identify relevant trends and issues and develop strategies to improve the quality, effectiveness and consistency of offender management practices.Provide feedback to Regional Managers and District Managers regarding operational practice issues.Provide high level, expert appraisal of operational practice issues to the Deputy Commissioner and other Senior Executives on an ongoing basis, to support decision making and inform process change.Undertake environmental scanning on issues and trends impacting on Community Corrections and custodial operations and provide a strategic analysis of variations and trends in organisational practice for Senior Executives.Develop and implement innovative and practical strategies, which support evidence informed practice in integrated offender management, to address identified operational practice issues.Lead an environment of organisational efficiency and effectiveness through Executive and Manager forums.Manage the performance appraisal and development of Community Corrections Operations staff and develop and foster a working environment which is motivated, productive and committed to service delivery as well as compliant with quality human resource management.Provide high level operational analysis and advice to senior management enabling them to deliver quality, cost effective services that are consistent with Agency strategic and operational objectives.Develop and maintain appropriate reporting systems and processes to facilitate effective performance, planning, financial and resource management.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
