Glenorchy City Council has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Manager Human Resources to join the team. You will be responsible for the Workforce Development Plan and HR Strategy, lead the HR core functions within Council including the HR Team, Industrial Relations, Learning & Development, Glenorchy Jobs Hub, organisational behaviour, and design. It also has responsibility for organisational culture and values. The successful applicant will have: Minimum 5 years' experience managing a significant Human Resources Role including relevant industrial relations and enterprise bargaining experience. Highly developed written and verbal communication and facilitation skills. Experience in developing, updating, and implementing a Human Resources Strategy / Workforce Development Plan. Demonstrated track record in values-based leadership of teams. Strong knowledge in Injury Management and Workers Compensation processes. Experience with implementing contemporary performance appraisal systems. Qualifications required: Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role and a Working With Vulnerable Persons card. Position Hours: Full-Time, 76 hours per fortnight. Reporting to the HR Director, this is a multifaceted generalist position. As an HR Manager, you will be working collaboratively and engaging with a range of clients from different industries to deliver high quality human resource services.Our clients are mostly small and medium business (10 -150 staff). This means that every day is different, and this is quite possibly one of the most interesting, challenging and rewarding HR roles you could hope for. While our office is based in North Sydney, we offer a flexible work environment, and a four-day work week with one day working from home. You may also be required to visit client sites from time to time.Key Responsibilities• Establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with clients through the provision of high quality, timely and accurateadvice on a broad range of Human Resources (HR) and Employee Relations (ER) matters including employment conditions, workforceplanning organisational design, performance management, recruitment & selection, discipline, grievances, employee relations anddispute resolution.• Compile employment contracts, position descriptions, policies, procedures, and performance improvement plans.• Providing interpretation, counsel and support around policies, procedures, programs, and employee life cycle activities.• Providing sound interpretation and advice on awards and NES to ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation.• Leading and/or managing a range of human resource related projects such as performance reviews, career development, recruitmentand HRIS implementation• Determining, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating human resource management strategies, policies and plans to meetbusiness needs• Advising and facilitating training for people leaders and employees as needed including recruitment and selection practices, andappropriate induction, training and development programs• Developing and implementing performance management systems to plan, appraise and improve individual and team performance• Representing the organisation in negotiations with unions and employees to determine remuneration and other conditions of employment• Developing and implementing occupational health and safety programs and equal employment opportunity programs, and ensuringcompliance with related statutory requirements• Overseeing the application of redundancy and other employee retrenchment policies• Monitoring employment costs and productivity levels• Liaise with finance/payroll teams• Support the HR Director with internal HR initiatives and programs• Foster effective relationships in all areas of the businessCompetencies and experienceYou will be a degree qualified with 5+ years' experience as an HR with experience across the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations (including administration), reporting and process. You will thrive in a busy environment, multitask effectively and adept at working in a high-volume environment across a wide range of stakeholders and industries with excellent communication and influencing skills.You will have a solid understanding and interpretive knowledge of legislation, frameworks and industrial instruments governing employment in Australia.You will be a motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and demonstrate a proactive approach to tackling tasks efficiently and effectively. You must have the ability to appropriately interact with management and staff at all levels.
