With their roots firmly connected to rural Australia, the organisation has been a remarkable driving force behind the Australian hay export industry through product innovation, new market exploration and continuous process improvement.Role OverviewBased at the Adelaide Head Office and reporting to the Group HR Manager, this newly created role Manager HR/HSQ, will be responsible for bringing standardisation, process efficiencies, compliance and improved site-based support.
This role will also enhance safety management, people capability, and organisational performance, whilst minimising risks and fostering a high-performing, safe, and engaged company culture aligned with Balco's strategic objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitoring, reviewing, maintaining and continuously improving Balco's safety management system (both WHS & HACCP) including but not limited to policy, procedures and other governing documentation, registers, training packages and updating assurance schedule;Providing exceptional HSQ guidance, implementing safe systems of work, promoting safe behavioural practices and leading by example by creating a proactive safety culture;Leading or supporting end to end workplace HSQ/HR investigations;Maintaining the annual Performance Review and Incentive Bonus Programs to drive company performance and supporting the development and scoring of departmental KPIs;Leading and supporting annual audits, inspections, certification renewals (DAFF, HSQ, compliance requirements);Implementing, embedding and training end users in HR system (Elmo) including onboarding, recruitment, learning and performance management;Developing and maintaining a suite of HR Standards, Policies and Procedures consistent with legal and business requirements;Identifying and/or delivering fit for purpose HSQ/HR training and development programs including leadership development;Supporting Payroll in the interpretation of applicable Awards and Agreements for remuneration and HR practices to ensure compliance with Fair Work obligations;Supporting workers compensation and return to work processes across VIC, SA & WA;Managing recruitment activities and proactively engaging and partnering with hiring managers to understand workforce needs;Performing monthly and quarterly reporting.Skills, Knowledge, and ExperienceBalco Australia is seeking a degree qualified Manager HR / HSQ with a strong background in similar roles.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in advisory support for site-based operations as well as a deep understanding of HR/HSQ compliance and legal obligations.
Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, or similar industries is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience in HR/HSQ system implementation will be highly regarded.This role requires someone who can work independently, support site leaders, and apply safety legislation and industrial standards.
Strong relationship-building, communication skills, and experience in driving improvement initiatives are key.
