Take on big challenges and grow, through mentorship, collaboration and empowerment.Thiess is the place to make things happen.About the roleAs our Health, Safety & Training Manager based on-site in our QCoal Northern Hub Coal Project reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving safety strategies and initiatives that cultivate and sustain a project culture of continuous improvement in safety.As a key member of the site senior leadership team, key accountabilities include:Influence and provide support to your peers in order to achieve our vision of every safe every day.Your 'hands on' approach, clear focus and effective leadership will contribute to the implementation of project safety management plans.Motivate people to ensure ownership of health & safety across all levels of the project as well as to develop and ensure the effectiveness of the health & safety system.Oversee a team of Health, Safety and Training professionals ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, and in line with legislation.Lead the safety culture on site to ensure the safety of all persons on site.Manage projects and budgets to deadlines.Roster and Location:Monday to Friday roster - home every weekend.The QCoal Northern Hub is situated in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, approximately 100 kilometres south of Bowen and 6km south of Collinsville.
It is also situated just one hour from the beautiful Whitsunday coast.About youTo be considered for this role you are required to have:2-3 years' experience in a similar role with extensive experience in an operational mining environment.A minimum of a diploma in OHS with tertiary qualifications in safety or a similar field being highly regarded.Extensive experience working with workers compensation, risk management and incident investigations.Ability to influence and implement strategic and cultural change.Demonstrated ability to manage projects to budget and deadlines.Demonstrated experience managing risk within a mining or heavy industrial environment.Demonstrated experience with the implementation of continuous improvement methodologies.Exceptional written and oral communication skills.Ability to effectively establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Outstanding skills with the Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.What Thiess can do for youLocal housing provided and relocation available.Permanent full-time position with 5 weeks annual leave.Thiess' commitment to ongoing training & development.Health & wellbeing rewards program through AIA Vitality.Competitive salary and benefits package.Salary sacrifice options - novated leasing, superannuation.Range of corporate discounts including health insurance (Medibank), travel & retail products.About usThiess works with clients in Australia, Asia and the Americas in the dynamic field of open-cut and underground mining.The pioneering spirit of our founders - the legendary Thiess brothers and their families - is our legacy, and inspires our vision to harness the power of people and technology to drive sustainable change.At Thiess, you will have the opportunity to play a part in the global energy transition.
