What you will do (key responsibilities/duties): Coordinate and lead the Chief Finance Officer Assurance Statement process, including preparation of documentation, collation of completed surveys and reports, and drafting of the annual CFO Assurance Report and Assurance Framework.Lead and coordinate a roadmap and changes to the departmental Financial Management Policy Manual (FMPM), including major improvements and rollout to the business groups.Lead FMPM, financial policy and internal controls training across the department.Manage departmental financial delegations and related improvement strategies.Lead and coordinate the development of financial management policies and critical business processes and procedures, which promotes effective and efficient financial and resource management outcomes to support sound internal controls framework.Ensure DPI meets its legislative, assurance and corporate governance, and reporting responsibilities around internal controls.Lead and coordinate departmental internal control assessments and corporate assurances.Coordinate and lead the communication of DPI's strategic position on internal controls and assurance processes.Play a key role in the review of the integrity of the agency's system of internal controls and the ethical conduct of management and employees.Have existing knowledge relating to the Financial Accountability Act 2009, Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019 and subordinate legislation, and the Australian Accounting Standards.Foster a professional environment which encourages commitment, ethical behaviour, skills development and continuous improvement.What will you bring (qualifications, registrations, experience): While accounting qualifications are not mandatory, the possession of a relevant degree and membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) would be considered to be highly desirable given the technical nature of this role.For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland residents.
