Job Type: Full Time

Package: $150,000 Total Employment Package (including Superannuation & Motor Vehicle Allowance)

This exciting opportunity will play a key role in delivering value for the community and developing the financial and social procurement processes across the organisation.

Reporting into the Director Planning & Corporate Services, this role will see you assume responsibility for finance and procurement services. Holding a pivotal role in the leadership team, you will be passionate about leading a high performing unit and providing strategic direction to develop and implement innovative approaches to ensure long term financial sustainability in a rate capped environment whilst delivering value for money.

Key responsibilities:

Preparation of the Annual Budget, Strategic Resource Plans and Long-Term Financial Strategy in accordance with statutory regulations and timelines.

Provide accurate and meaningful Budget Year to Date/Actual Year to Date and Year to End Projections to Council on a monthly basis.

Manage Council's investment portfolios in order to maximise Council's investment income in accordance with regulations.

Ensure that appropriate internal control systems are in place to efficiently manage the range of Council's financial functions including payroll, creditors, rates and sundry debtors.

Manage the finance team including annual Workplans and appraisals.

Service Council's Finance Committee in its role of providing internal control advice to the Chief Executive Officer.

Coordinate the information requirements of the external auditors and implement measures to rectify any issues identified by them.

Ensure that appropriate Fringe Benefit and Goods and Services Tax returns are completed on a monthly basis and appropriate records are retained.

Prepare Council's Annual Financial Statements in accordance with statutory timelines and Australian Accounting Standards.

Assume the position and responsibilities of Principal Accounting Officer including the preparation of the Council's Annual Financial Statements, Standard Statement and Performance Statement.

Ensure that Council's rates function is appropriately administered in accordance with the Local Government Act.
