About the opportunity The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australia's regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors.
In everything we do, we take an approach to protect, grow and innovate WA's economy, community and environment.
The Manager will be responsible for maximising the potential of the Departments Horticultural Research Stations in Manjimup, Carnarvon and Kununurra.
Working closely with the team leads and researchers at each site to plan the future infrastructure, equipment and operational requirements that will deliver quality research, attract collaboration and retain a high-quality workforce.
Workplace health and safety is an important part of the Field Research Operations Manager's role.
You will champion the culture of safety by working closely with the station teams on the whole of life cycle of capital assets, equipment, maintenance schedules, safety checklists, standard operating procedures and the implementation of DPIRD procedures/protocols.
The exceptional individual will interact with the stations' research scientists and technical officers to ensure both parties have clarity on each other's needs and project timeframes.
You will have knowledge of operational practicalities and the associated limitations which will factor in the trial planning process to facilitate successful outcomes.
Putting your communication skills in action you will work alongside the Grains, Livestock and Aquaculture Directorates to foster consistent, collaborative and productive cross-directorate relationships within the Primary Industries Development pillar.
There are 3 direct reports to this position, based in 3 different regional locations across the state.
Travel to these sites during the year will be a requirement of this role.
There is currently one (1) 5 year fixed-term position available for immediate filling.
This position can be located in the Perth Metropolitan Area or a DPIRD regional office in the state.
