A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Manager - External Reporting and Technical Accounting , reporting to the Executive Manager - External Reporting and Technical Accounting, where you will join the Finance business unit.
A bit about your role
As part of the Corporate Finance team, this position will have responsibility to support the preparation, delivery and review of NBN Co's statutory reporting, provide expert technical accounting advice on a cross-functional basis and execute valuation procedures undertaken by the Company.
This role has a core reporting, technical accounting, sustainability reporting, and asset valuation focus and includes the delivery of both key external and internal stakeholder requirements in a fast-paced environment.
The External Reporting component of the role is responsible for assisting management in the preparation, review, and delivery of external financial and shareholder reporting, including the Annual Integrated Report, the Half Year Report, and provision of asset valuation reporting to NBN Co's shareholders.
This will include helping the Company to implement the reporting requirements of the new Sustainability Standards which are effective from 1 July 2025.
The delivery of the external reports includes the coordination and oversight of other team members and consultants (where applicable) who will be part of a core team responsible for the delivery of these financial reports.
In respect of Technical Accounting, the position will be responsible for helping to set and maintain NBN Co's accounting policies and provide accounting solutions for complex business transactions.
The role will need to ensure that the support for all reported positions is able to withstand the scrutiny of internal and external audit reviews.
Where appropriate, this will include the preparation of robust accounting position memos and reports, as well as the drafting of Board and Audit and Risk Committee reporting on significant accounting matters.
This includes supporting any review by such parties and being able to respond to business stakeholders where required.
A bit about you
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in financial reporting for large listed (or equivalent) corporate entities.
You will have demonstrated experience within an external reporting function in a fast-paced organisation, including specialist technical accounting expertise.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, or accounting, as well as a Professional Accounting based qualification (CA), or equivalent, is essential for this role.
World-class verbal and high-quality written communication skills coupled with problem solving and the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business will be essential to your success in this role.
You will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work autonomously, be an influential leader, and a willing team participant.
You will possess a can-do attitude with strong interpersonal skills to effectively partner with a range of management and business stakeholders across the organization.
