About the role: The Manager, Evidence and Insights will hold accountability for providing specialist technical advice on the availability and suitability of data that measure outcomes and system performance; undertaking data analytics and performance reporting.The role includes the development of effective relationships with data custodians across other parts of the department, facilitate appropriate data linkage, and support the good data governance within the division.The Manager will lead a small team to coordinate and lead responses to new and emerging issues and risks relating to the design and development of new data collection for both mental health and AoD, as well as ensure the existing collections are fit-for-purpose.The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including within data managers within health services and a range of program and policy areas within the department.How you'll make a difference: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of issues impacting the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division and lead critical projects.Support reporting of progress against specified government outcomes by gathering and preparing data, undertaking statistical and thematic analysis, and presenting findings in accessible formats that support decision making.Initiate, support and contribute to the development, design, implementation and reporting of analysis projects that address government evidence requirements.Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:Leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contributing to organisational goals and outcomes.Modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values.Where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility.Extensive experience coaching, developing and managing a team.Extensive experience in change management and providing positive and constructive leadership during and following change management periods.Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.Identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives and provide high quality business intelligence and sound recommendations based on comprehensive research and investigations.Strong critical analysis and reporting skills, high attention to detail, excellent writing skills and experience in managing stakeholder relationships.Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: A tertiary qualification in fields related to public policy or data analytics would be desirable.What we offer: The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.How to apply: Applications should include a resume and a cover letter.
