+ 15.4% Super + Free Parking Our client, a scientific Government agency whose focus is on the geology and geography of Australia, is seeking the experience of a Manager - Earth Observation Team , to work permanently in Symonston ACT.
Duties of the Manager - Earth Observation Team Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of three staff with skills in remote sensing, field data collection, software engineering, data science, and machine learning.
Lead the development of procedures, protocols, and systems for calibration and validation of DE multi-sensor surface reflectance and other derivative products using field and other data sources.
Design field validation campaigns aligned with requirements of the Program, and manage post-survey processing and organisation of field-based spectral and ancillary data, including custodianship of field instrumentation.
Manage consolidation and operation of the national spectral library, and advocate enterprise best practices, frameworks, and patterns for management, curation, and use of data.
Maintain expert knowledge in relevant subject domains, including standards, protocols, and measurement science.
Support the program in influencing domestic and international partners to develop global calibration and validation frameworks.
Skills and Experience Required Qualifications and/or experience in Earth observation, measurement science, or allied disciplines, with a sound knowledge of remote sensing principles.
Experience in systematic radiometric and/or geometric calibration and/or validation of Earth observation data products using reference data, including associated instrumentation.
Experience in leading or working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Desirable Criteria Knowledge/experience of applying metrology in the context of Earth observation.
Knowledge/experience of characterising uncertainty associated with Earth observation data products.
Knowledge/experience in automating scientific workflows.
Knowledge/experience with collecting field validation data.
Knowledge/experience using UAV-based sensors for collecting field validation data.
An Australian Remote Pilot Licence to operate a sub-25 kg UAV or the willingness and ability to obtain one.
