Role Title – Manager Data Governance and Data SharingBranch and Division: Regulatory Intelligence, Data Management and Reporting, Fair Trading Operations Location: ParramattaTerm: Ongoing Grade: Clerk Grade 11/12 Salary range: $145,378 - $168,130 + SuperClosing Date: Monday 6th January 2025 (9:59am)Please note, due to Christmas Shutdown, shortlisting for this role will commence in the new year once the advert closes on January 6th 2025.NSW Fair Trading is seeking an ongoing Manager Data Governance & Data Sharing to lead the design and implementation of Data Governance controls and compliance programs across the agency.About the teamRegulatory Intelligence, Data Management & Reporting has a mandate to develop, implement, and ensure compliance with standardised data governance controls across Fair Trading.
The Data Governance & Data Sharing team is responsible for:Development of the NSW Fair Trading Data Governance Policy and associated control specifications.Design of control standards in partnership with NSW Fair Trading Risk & Compliance, NSW Fair Trading Digital, and the office of the Chief Information Security Officer.Supporting operational teams with implementation of controls.Designing, implementing and executing audit and compliance processes to verify compliance with policies and controls.In this role you will:Work in partnership with NSW Fair Trading Risk & Compliance, NSW Fair Trading Digital, and the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer to design, communicate about, and drive the implementation of data governance controls across NSW Fair Trading.
Design, implement, and execute an audit and compliance program to ensure compliance with specified data governance controls.Develop detailed, prescriptive operational procedures and associated documentation to make control implementation and execution simple and effective for operational teams.Develop and maintain catalogues of datasets, data items, metrics, reports, and corresponding legal instruments, across NSW Fair Trading.Develop detailed procedures for user access management across NSW Fair Trading data storage and use systems.Conduct detailed compliance assessments of current state processes and systems across NSW Fair Trading, and work with operational teams to design and implement iterative compliance uplifts.To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:This will not be a policy-focused role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving operational processes and controls.The successful candidate will need to:Be comfortable designing and implementing process changes that will have an immediate real world impact on multiple teams across NSW Fair Trading.Take responsibility for conducting detailed work to a high standard – e.g.
in conducting data cataloguing and control attestation exercises across the agency.Have a strong bias to action.Be curious and motivated to learn.Previous experience in (a) control design and implementation in any compliance domain, (b) conducting compliance verification processes (e.g.
compliance audits, regulatory/law enforcement investigations) is highly desirable.Previous experience in compliance & enforcement roles in Law Enforcement and Regulatory contexts highly desirable.An understanding of data and data governance related concepts is considered beneficial, but not essential.
Candidates with a background in other operational compliance areas (e.g.
Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorism Financing, Operational Risk management, Cyber Security, etc) and a willingness to invest in rapidly learning data governance specific content will be considered.Applicants with a background in data governance projects and programs must demonstrate proven experience in control and/or compliance program design and implementation.Applicants whose data governance experience is limited to policy drafting will not be considered.Willingness to take accountability for outcomes and take initiative to independently identify solutions and move toward outcomes.A high degree of comfort with ambiguity and change.The ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment.Essential requirements:Appointment and ongoing assignment may be subject to restrictions and the satisfactory participation in mandatory pre-employment and ongoing probity screening, in accordance with relevant Legislation and/or related policies.It is a requirement of this role to obtain and hold baseline security clearance.
