The Department is growing Australia's critical minerals sector to make Australia a world-leading producer of raw and processed critical minerals.
To support the high-quality public policy needed to realise this ambition, the Critical Minerals Economics team:

Critical mineral markets are subject to increasing demand, volatile price movements, supply chain bottlenecks and geopolitics.
As the leader of Critical Minerals Economics team, you will:
drive delivery of analytical projects to influence outcomes, including by translating data and economic analysis into impactful adviceundertake routine managerial and corporate tasksbuild the capability of your team and colleaguescommunicate with Ministers and their advisers, including through oral presentations and briefing productsteach your team to build and maintain relationships across the department, and with representatives from industry, state and territory government, and other Commonwealth Government agenciesactively promote a positive, inclusive culture in a diverse workforce.What's in it for you?Your work will help shape Australia's future economy and trade relationships.

What you will doThe key duties of the position include:
Manage a small team (5-8 people)Scope and deliver analytical and research projectsBuild and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationshipsProcure data and manage data subscriptionsTo be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
NotesA merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
The department currently offers flexible work opportunities for many roles.
This vacancy is Canberra-based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered.
