Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:Manager - Core Technology OperationsDate: 16 Jan 2025Location: Melbourne, VIC, AU, 3002Company: OricaAbout OricaAbout the roleWe are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Manager - Core Technology Operations role to be based in our Melbourne office with a hybrid working setup.The Manager - Core Tech Operations ensures the secure and highly disciplined management of Orica's global Core Technology services, through leadership of the operations teams and managed services partners.
This includes cloud platforms, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, virtualisation, compute, storage, backup, recovery, network services including SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless and telephony.Working closely with stakeholders across the business, whilst working in alignment with Orica's IT strategy to drive a simplified, standardised, cost-effective and highly disciplined environment.What you will be doingThe Manager - Core Tech Operations will oversee the 24x7 support and management of core technology services across a varying range of technology and platforms, ensuring they are measured, monitored, cost-effective and reliable, sustaining a program of continuous improvement.You will lead a highly skilled, diverse, global team, fostering a unified and highly approachable nature, with a culture of ownership and accountability and desire to constantly improve and eliminate risk.
You will enrich the capabilities of the team, so they can apply themselves to leverage an ever-evolving landscape of cloud, infrastructure and networking technology.
You will also lead the performance of our managed services partners, ensuring highly disciplined contract management, tight integration between vendor service delivery and the Orica operations teams, and nurturing a partnership which brings value to Orica.The role requires enhancing and maintaining finance, security, and operational standards across Core Technology operations, monitoring against those standards and addressing any variance, pushing for improved outcomes such as standardised and automated delivery, and eliminating complexity.
You will have a desire to develop, maintain, and have an intimate knowledge of, accurate facts and metrics, be courageous to make decisions and take measured risk based on these metrics, and be prepared to challenge the status quo.You will be able to communicate clear direction, influence your peers and stakeholders to help with eliminating complexity and seek alignment to our strategy, and possess the ability to interact effectively with engineers, vendors, peers and executives, desiring to understand Orica's business and how you and the team sustain and add value.What you will bring10+ years in IT Service Delivery or similar capacity, and 5-10 years' experience in IT service delivery to a global company.5-10 years of direct people management.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a global team, understand business needs, effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Deep understanding of IT cloud platforms, infrastructure and networks; Cloud platforms and how to extract the capability of the major hyper scalers with sufficient operational guardrails.Cloud IaaS hosting and virtualisation: Experience with multi-cloud including VMWare, Azure, Google Cloud and/or AWS (Amazon Web Services), and cloud tools (GitHub, Terraform)Hardware asset managementMicrosoft Infrastructure servicesBackup and recovery inc.
Database (e.g.
Commvault)Network services: WAN, LAN and WLAN for office and industrial (e.g.
Cisco ISRs, Viptela SD-WAN (software defined wide area network))Remote Access tools (e.g.
Zscaler ZIA)Strong business acumen and ability to develop and implement global processes without negative impact to staff.Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, drive innovation, and drive projects.Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience of managing budgets $10M+, with strong negotiations skills, understanding how actions contribute towards improving business outcomes.Demonstrated Tier 1 vendor management experience including governance and contract lifecycle management.A solution and outcome focus with a preparedness to "roll up your sleeves" and be part of the solution.Transparency using accurate facts and metrics to drive continuous improvement.What we offerAs part of a truly global company, you will have the ability to grow and learn in a diverse, collaborative culture.
