There's a certain charm to this town in the Top End - life in Katherine is special.Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position resides within Council's leadership team and is responsible for the function of the department of Community Relations and the delivery of community initiatives and services to the Katherine Municipality. The Manager Community Relations will lead a professional team to deliver the services of Council's Community Events, Customer Service, Library and Visitor Information Services.As an experienced leader you will bring proven ability and experience to deliver and manage the operational/hands-on aspects of the role along with the leadership to develop the strategic objectives of customer service, public library and visitor service functions of Council to ensure high quality, efficient service. You will direct, co-ordinate, program and lead the operations of the Community Relations Department under broad guidelines and within Council's policy.This role provides fantastic variety across a diverse range of functions and as such we are not looking for a specialist in all these areas, but rather someone who has held key responsibility for one or more of those functions and thrives on learning new skills and broadening your own experience. Grant funding experience would be a distinct advantage along with strong communications skills and confident engagement ability across a very diverse range of stakeholders.You will require a relevant degree or diploma in business or frontline management, and/or relevant experience and demonstrable knowledge and skills aligned to the position requirements. Local Government experience would be preferred or experience in a similar regulated environment. You will have keen organisational and time management skills, high levels of accuracy, be innovative and be a confident negotiator.Everything about this exciting role is unique.
