Advertised Vacancy Number: DOE896028This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP.Professional BenefitsWorking for the Department of Education attracts a range of attractive benefits including: 11 percent employer contributions to superannuationMore than 20 days of other leave, including sick leave and carers' leave The Role and our BranchWe encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.The Role and our DirectorateThe Infrastructure division of the Department of Education is responsible for the delivery of land, buildings, asset services and maintenance.The 3 directorates within the division are involved in demographic forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, delivery of capital projects, minor works programs and maintenance.The infrastructure division also provides security, emergency management, and environmental services to schools, and property management and leasing services.The division is doing things differently – we are innovating our approach to planning, delivering, and maintaining school infrastructure and are looking for team members who want to make a significant contribution to our reform journey and improve the way we provide services.The Infrastructure Delivery and Maintenance directorate is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Manager, Capital Project Delivery.We encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.In this exciting and busy role, as the Manager, Capital Project Delivery you will oversee the delivery of the Department of Education's significant asset investment program that includes the construction of new schools, additions, and specialist facilities.Capital works projects are delivered in partnership with the Department of Finance.This role will require the successful applicant to analyse trends, identify opportunities and develop strategies to enhance the design, construction methodology and ongoing/lifecycle management of department infrastructure.The role will also be required to draft briefing notes to the Minister for Education and Director General of Education.If successful, you will be required to provide leadership and management of the operations of the asset investment program including governance, risk management and the development of a high performing team.A key component of the role will include overseeing project management functions relating toAs the Manager, Capital Projects you will create a work environment that is safe, fosters equity and diversity, enables the achievement of personal and infrastructure division goals and facilitate accomplishment of designated roles and deliverables.Your responsibilities will include managing staff performance in accordance with the Public Sector Performance Management Standard and Department policy as well as fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Cultural DiversityThe Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria: Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in complex project management within a capital works or facilities management/maintenance environment.Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in the provision of asset planning and related management services.Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.Undertake and support culturally sensitive engagement with Aboriginal organisations, community members and parents/caregivers to build strong relationships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.Demonstrated high-level conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to develop solutions to complex problems.Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations.For a full outline of the role responsibilities and selection criteria, please refer to the JDF.It is recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.All inquiries are welcomed
