Manager Building and Technical Inspectorate The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as a Manager Building and Technical Inspectorate. In this pivotal role, you will oversee our Building Inspectors within the Building and Technical Inspectorate, delivering essential building dispute services and supporting the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme. Your leadership will ensure compliance with building standards, balancing the interests of consumers and contractors while providing statewide inspection, dispute resolution, and technical advisory services. Lead and manage the operation of the technical team, this will include:
Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on performance to achieve the team's objectives. Ensuring staff are provided with appropriate direction, guidance, training, and assistance. Developing and administering the branch's business plan and budget and identifying, recommending, and implementing responses to significant issues. Coordination and provision of specialist advice relating to building code compliance, complex design and construction matters, and interpretation and application of building legislation. Support and embed the QBCC's regulatory function and provide best in-kind technical advice to internal and external stakeholders. Focus and prioritise on the uplifting of technical capability across the QBCC through training and the development and succession planning to ensure the QBCC remains contemporary and aligns with industry trends and standards. Provide the QBCC with expert advice on technical services performed by the QBCC Building Inspectors within the regulatory function and apply best practice methodology for delivering relevant services. Cultivate sound working relationships with stakeholders including industry associations, community groups, suppliers, etc. to provide greater awareness of QBCC and its priorities, fostering cooperative partnership approaches achieving QBCC's strategic objectives. Candidate Attributes Provide leadership and guidance to a team on the application of legislation, policies, and procedures related to the building industry in Queensland. Be able to apply contemporary building standards, practices, legislation, and codes within the construction industry. Have high-level investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage cases particularly related to a highly technical environment. Build and maintain networks and relationships to represent and promote QBCC to external stakeholders. Develop strategies for dealing with change to deliver quality customer service and achieve outcomes of the QBCC.
