PurposeThis position plays a key role for Pacific Blue's Retail business providing financial and accounting support to assist in meeting their goals and objectives.As a finance business partner for PB's Retail business, the position needs to develop and maintain strong working relationships with Retail management and staff and deliver value add advice and analysis.The role will need to work collaboratively with other parts of the Retail business (e.g.
billing, accounts payable) to ensure strong financial management and internal control, whilst also providing broad financial support to other areas of the retail team.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a business partnering role with the Retail business, including a deep understanding of key business drivers, the market, and operations.Lead, engage, motivate, and develop capability within the Retail Finance Team.Be an active member of the retail management team, providing commercial and financial advice and analysis to support the business' strategic delivery and key initiatives.Lead the Budget and Forecasting process for the Retail business, ensuring the Retail business is well engaged with key assumptions, opportunities and risk clearly understood and communicated.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the financial performance of the Retail business as per shareholder, Board, senior management and third party (e.g.
Lender) requirements.Analysis of monthly results focusing on key business drivers (e.g.
retail margin) and communication of results to senior Retail management.Provide regular support for Retail cost centre managers to understand their Budgets, Forecasts, and financial performance.Maintain a strong internal control environment, in collaboration with other functions in the Retail business and the broader PB organization.Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency improvements, particularly through system integration and automation.Provide financial analysis to support material investment decisions for the Retail business.Ensure timely and accurate completion of month end process, including appropriate reconciliations.Support the Retail business in the monitoring and collection of debtors through the processing of transaction from Engage into SAP, month end credit reporting, review of doubtful debts, and clearing of suspense accounts.Support the Retail business in tracking concession claims.Monitor Capex and customer acquisition cost for measurement against budget, forecasts, and prior periods.Assist in liaising with the Auditors and other compliance related activities.Provide assistance to the EM Financial Controller on projects and matters concerning the retail part of the business as considered necessary.Ensure that the Company's compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed, and kept up to date with particular focus on cyber security and data protection and the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company's Register of Compliance Obligations.Build and maintain a trusted partner role with the Retail business and functions across the organisation.Provide quality and timely financial advice and support services in an environment of significant business growth and ongoing market change whilst simultaneously delivering improved processes, systems, reporting and internal control environment.JudgmentsAdapting to market changes in a constantly evolving industry landscape.Advice to support the Retail business implementing its strategy, considering current and emerging risks.Play an integral role in both the Retail and Finance management teams.To work closely with the Retail management team delivering strategic support to the GM Retail and CFO.Understand team goals and objectives and prioritise work to best meet those objectives.Anticipate queries from financial information users and prepare logical and concise explanations.Knowledge, Experience (including qualification) and SkillKnowledge and experience: Experience in electricity/ gas industry - Retail analysis experience highly regarded.Past experience developing a business partner role / team.Good knowledge and understanding of accounting standards.SAP experience will be highly regarded.Oversee the efficient operation of the team including staff supervision and development.Skills: Demonstrated ability of working in a team in an unstructured environment.Listens, consults others, and communicates proactively.Ability to tightly manage and deliver multiple assignments of varying priority and difficulty.Good communication skills (written and oral) and able to articulate lessons across all levels.Strong analytical and numerical skills.Sound commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills.DimensionsNumber of direct reports: 1
