Covering 10% of Victoria's expansive landscape, East Gippsland is rich in natural resources and brimming with economic potential as a hub ideally situated between Australia's two major commercial centers in Melbourne and Sydney.The RoleYour key aim, as the Manager of Assets and Engineering, is to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain Council's asset and building portfolio which includes a diverse range of natural and built community facilities, roads, bridges and footpaths, drainage, and plant and fleet. As Council continues to transform the way it manages its asset portfolio, the Manager Assets and Engineering will lead the provision of sound asset management services, informing the development of Council's long-term maintenance and capital programs.The Manager Assets and Engineering reports to the General Manager Assets and Environment and is responsible for:Leading the organisation's approach to asset management including the systems, plans, and processes used to guide management of the organisation's broad asset base.Leading a multi-skilled team responsible for providing engineering advice.Managing the organisation's fleet, plant, and building maintenance and construction.This position will give you the opportunity to lead the development of contemporary asset management across Council's asset and property portfolio through the development of Council's Asset Management Framework including policy, strategy, and plans. You will contribute to the identification of strategic infrastructure needs and undertake the respective planning, development of business cases to inform capital and works programs, and implementation.The key objectives of the role are to:Lead the unit in providing excellent customer service to internal and external (including community) customers particularly in relation to asset management, building maintenance, engineering advice, and plant and fleet.Develop, embed, and improve contemporary asset management practices across the organisation, through the development and review of Asset Management Plans, sustainable service levels, and implementation of the Asset Management Strategy. Importantly, you will embed the use of asset management information in decision making.Ensure Asset Management technology and systems are used to enhance asset management planning.Provide civil engineering advice to capital, development, and other major projects – especially in relation to roads and drainage.About YouYou will bring a wide-reaching set of leadership skills and experiences that position you to lead and support staff in a measured and considered way that encourages individual and team growth and allows them to shine.
