The Strathbogie Shire is a vibrant and progressive rural municipality located about two hours from the Melbourne CBD along the Hume Highway. We have diverse and picturesque communities served by townships such as Euroa, Nagambie, Violet Town, Avenel, Longwood, Ruffy and Strathbogie.The role will:Reporting to the Director Sustainable Infrastructure, the Manager - Asset Planning is accountable for ensuring the achievement of corporate and departmental objectives identified in the Council Plan, strategic direction set through annual business plans and service-specific goals and objectives in regard to functional areas.The Manager will lead all aspects of operations of the Assets Planning Department in its service and program delivery to ensure legislative compliance.Key responsibilities:Manage the development of asset management and renewal and capital works programs for both the Long-Term Financial Plan and annual budget considerations.Develop and deliver a program for establishment of Asset Management Plans for all asset categories utilising advanced competency and as required by the Local Government Act 2020.Provide technical asset advice to Council, assist in the development of asset policies and ensure the delivery of Asset Services activity in accordance with adopted policy.Evaluate programs and budgets to ensure effective and efficient operations.Provide reports to Council, as appropriate, on all aspects of department programs, services and operations.Ensure all services are responsive to client and community needs and meet the requirements of the Customer Service Charter.Extensive knowledge of asset management.Well-developed understanding of business planning practices.Well-developed understanding of public relations and marketing principles and practices and their application.Why you will love working at Strathbogie Shire Council….We understand the need for flexibility and can offer:Hybrid working arrangements – up to 40% working from home.Option for working more hours over less days (e.g., 9-day fortnight).Negotiated start and finish times.Negotiated work sites.We have generous leave entitlements including:3 additional days of Family Care Leave per year to support caring requirements.3 days paid leave during Christmas closure.Long service leave available pro rata after five years, and transferable across local government organisations.Up to 10 days unpaid leave per year for Cultural and Ceremonial Leave.Up to 20 days of paid Family Violence Leave annually.Parental Leave – 16 weeks of paid leave for primary carer and 2 weeks for secondary carer, with option to be taken a half pay.We value your health and wellbeing and offer:Access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Income Protection Scheme for all employees.Weekly onsite visits for treatment of soft tissue injuries.Access to Local Government Employees Health Plan.We encourage professional development and learning opportunities including:Support to study with a repayment plan via payroll deductions.Access to study leave.On the job training.And the bonuses:Annual pay increases in line with our Enterprise Agreement.17.5% Leave Loading paid annually as a lump sum 'Christmas bonus'.Recognition awards for years of service.For further information about this position, please contact Director Sustainable Infrastructure, on 5795 0000.Please apply through our website at Careers at Council | Strathbogie Shire and complete an online application form.
