Details of the offer

Title: Manager, Asset Inspection & Assessment Location: Victoria, Australia
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Description:
The Manager, Asset Inspection and Assessment is responsible for overseeing the inspection, assessment, and operational integrity of the company's distribution electrical infrastructure assets.
This role ensures that all electrical assets are inspected and assessed in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, in line with regulatory requirements and company standards.
The manager will also lead teams, manage asset risk, and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders to optimise the asset lifecycle and ensure operational reliability.

With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank or local AusNet depots (with some occasional travel to depots as appropriate) and is part of the Network Operations & Delivery team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
Develop and implement inspection protocols for electrical assets including Electricity Distribution lines, substations, transformers, and other critical infrastructure.
Ensure that routine inspections and assessment activities are performed on time and in accordance with standards and policies.
Ensure that all operational activities related to asset inspection and assessment are performed in alignment with the company's operational strategy.
Monitor the operational performance of assets and make recommendations for optimizing efficiency, reducing outages, and extending asset life.
Lead the root cause analysis of operational failures and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to plan for asset upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning as needed.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and safety requirements, including electrical safety codes, environmental regulations, and operational standards.
Identify and assess potential operational risks related to asset management and develop mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, operations, procurement, and health and safety departments to align asset management practices with broader company goals.
Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and equipment suppliers.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
Experience in asset management, operations, or maintenance in the electricity or utility industry.
Strong understanding of electricity transmission and distribution systems, as well as regulatory and safety requirements.
Proven experience in leading inspection and maintenance programs for large-scale electrical assets.
Familiarity with modern inspection techniques, including drones, sensors, and other condition-monitoring technologies.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams.
Certifications in asset management, project management, or related fields are advantageous.
We believe in more than just competitive pay.
Here's what sets us apart:
Flexibility: whether this is hybrid work, flexible hours, or part-time arrangements, we'll work with you to help balance work and life.
Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
Perks: we offer all the other perks you've come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts, and more.
So, if you're passionate about our purpose and committed to making real progress, bring your energy and join AusNet.
Together, we can shape a new way forward.
