About the Opportunity Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the successful candidate will effectively lead a small group of staff, responsible for attending to the Centre's financial and accounting functions in accordance with corporate and Australian Accounting Standard requirements.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Assume responsibilities for the day to day supervision of the Finance and Accounting section, Payroll, Prisoner Monies and Switch within the Finance and Administration Department.
In the absence of the Finance and Administration Manager, provide a decision-making role on matters of relevance to the Finance and Administration Department as a whole, including authorised delegations.
Monitor the input of data and the date integrity on Infinium Accounting Software and report back any variances to the Finance and Administration Manager relating to; General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Prisoner Trust Accounts.
Monitor the preparation and recording of payments and receipts through the electronic cash books and their balance to the bank statements for four (4) bank accounts being: Operating Accounts, Prisoner Trust Account and Prisoner Amenities Account.
Act as cheque signatory to the Centre's bank accounts in accordance with Company Policy.
Prepare appropriate General Ledger journal entries for a multi branch ledger including accruals, prepayments and provisions.
Collation, recording, reconciliation, expense allocation and filing of documentation to ensure the accurate recording of the Company's assets and outstanding liabilities, both present and past.
Prepare informative, timely and accurate monthly management reports.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Centre's budgets.
Manage the preparation of the Centre's payroll, ensure at all times: that correct funds are remitted to the correct employee in a timely manner, that all deductions are forwarded in a timely manner to the appropriate authorities, year to date reconciliations are carried out immediately after each pay run: and Payroll costs are accurately recorded in the General Ledger.
Supervise the maintenance of a register of purchase requisitions for the Centre in accordance with the Company Policies.
Develop, implement and monitor effective control and purchasing processes for the Centre.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Supervision and mentoring of direct reports.
Weekly cash flow forecasting and management.
Preparation of billings for the Centre's receivables and the monitoring of funds received against those receivables.
Liaise with all staff on matters relating to accounting matters including but not limited to budgets, cost control and preparation of management information.
Prioritisation of all tasks to ensure meeting of external and internal deadlines.
Assist in the training and provide accounting guidance to other staff members.
Attend to other duties as directed by the Finance and Administration Manager.
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety and EEO/EOWA requirements in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and contribute to the maintenance and improvement of safety and equity in the workplace.
Other duties as directed.
Ensure compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures and the Governance, Risk and Compliance Manual.
Skills and Experience A practical working knowledge of Australian Standards of Accounting.
Sound knowledge of Australian commercial accounting practises.
Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures under a database accounting software package.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Proven ability to meet deadlines as prescribed by the Finance and Administration Manager.
Ability to impart knowledge of systems, procedures and policies to subordinate staff.
Experience in the supervision/management of staff in the administrative area of a complex organisation Ability to evaluate staff performance and a high level of skills in face to face communication which enables motivation of staff to achieve desired results.
Ability to lead a team in a supportive and developmental manner.
Be prepared to monitor staff and focus on the development of teams and a harmonious working environment.
Ability to research, analyse and document matters relating to the administrative and financial functions.
Demonstrated high level of energy in the discharge of work roles Demonstrated flexible, questioning approach to work systems and problems Demonstrated tact, integrity and discretion with respect to such matters as confidentiality and client interest.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently prepare clinical formulations and reports.

Fulham has been continually managed by GEO on behalf of Corrections Victoria since opening in 1997.
It is Victoria's largest regional Correctional Centre.
