Our State Government client based in the CBD is currently looking for an experienced Management Accountant. Your new role As the Management Accountant, you will be accountable for the establishment, monitoring and analysis of the portfolio budgets. You will be required to utilise your financial knowledge and background to provide advice to senior leadership regarding financial statuses across the portfolio, ensuring business terminology is used. You will partner with key stakeholders across the organisation and specifically in IS&T to report on the performance of aspects of project expenditure. You will coordinate and provide accurate and clear reporting of financial status and overall portfolio health. It is critical that you have excellent communication skills to answer questions in plain/simple language when complex financial elements are being discussed. It will be beneficial if you have experience working for the SA Government and have an understanding of the financial structures within the government. What you'll need to succeed A degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent. Demonstrated experience working as a Senior Portfolio Finance Officer or similar role, ideally within the State Government. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to compile important documents, financial reports and present them in simple terms. This involves a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and quality. Provide strategic advice and support to Directors and senior managers on financial matters including forecasting, reporting, analysis, risk management and planning. Work closely with Program Managers and the Portfolio Coordinator on the allocated budgets to capture relevant information and report on the status of the portfolio. Experience preparing financial statements.
